Lijia Maple Leaf Trail Introduction
Before entering the Lijia Tribe, there is a wooden platform approximately 49 kilometers along County Road 169. Descending the wooden stairs beside it, you will immediately enter a forest of maple trees. Among them are blue maples belonging to the Sapindaceae family and fragrant maples from the Hamamelidaceae family. In addition to enhancing the mountain view during the maple-red season, you can also see the spiky fruits of the fragrant maple. Furthermore, the fragrant maple holds significant meaning for the Bunun people. According to legend, on a certain day in ancient times, the deity Hamo descended upon Yushan and shook the maple trees, causing the fallen fruits on the ground to transform into humans, who became the ancestors of the Bunun people. Following the trail down, it takes about 20 minutes to walk the approximately 200-meter wooden steps. Then, by following the connecting road, you can reach the settlement.
