Sacred Heart of Jesus Church Introduction
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church is located on Provincial Highway 24 in Wutai Township and was established in 1959. It is also known as Shenshan Catholic Church due to its location in Shenshan Village. The church is built with local slate, and its most distinctive feature is the human-shaped seats carved by local tribespeople, all facing to the right, which is the direction of the rising sun, symbolizing hope. Inside the church, there is a beehive, which represents unity for the Indigenous people, like a mother hen protecting her chicks, with a family head protecting the people beneath him, while the villagers are akin to the chicks under the wings, cared for and protected by the beehive's swarm, embodying the spirit of unity and cooperation. It is recommended to stay for about 30 minutes, and visits must be scheduled in advance with the community development association. Entering Wutai Township requires an entry permit, and Class A buses are prohibited from passing through.
