Yán Bǎn Xiàng Introduction
Yanban Alley is located in the Wutai Village, named for its entire path paved with stone slabs. The route follows the winding path of the hundred-step snake, adorned with ceramic jars along the sides. It is approximately 500 meters long, and visitors can see totem markers of "Lily," "Hundred-step Snake," and "Clouded Leopard" guiding the way, adding a sense of exploration to the journey. Human-shaped statues stand in front of the houses, and various carvings on the door frames and walls represent the homes of commoners, hunters, elders, and chiefs. The carvings along the alley depict many stories, such as women weaving cloth, aged village elders weathered by time, spirited hunting heroes, and hunters joyfully reporting their achievements. Observing these carvings not only provides insight into the daily lives of the Rukai people but also showcases their artistic accomplishments, making it an excellent introduction to Rukai culture. It is suggested to stay for about 1 hour, and visitors need to apply for a mountain entry permit when entering Wutai Township, while large class A buses are prohibited from passing through.
