Yenban Alley Introduction
Yanban Alley is located within Wutai Village, named for its path paved entirely with stone slabs. The route follows the winding path of the Many-banded Krait, adorned with ceramic pots along the sides. The alley stretches approximately 500 meters, and while exploring Yanban Alley, one can see totemic directional signs depicting "Lily," "Many-banded Krait," and "Clouded Leopard," making the journey enjoyable as one follows the signs. Human-shaped sculptures stand in front of the houses, and different carvings on the lintels and walls represent the homes of commoners, hunters, elders, and chiefs. The carvings along the alley depict many stories, showcasing women weaving, elders from the village weathered by time, valorous hunting heroes, and hunters joyfully reporting their achievements. Observing these carvings not only provides insight into the daily lives of the Rukai people but also allows appreciation of their artistic talents, making it an excellent starting point to understand Rukai culture. A recommended stay of about one hour is suggested, and an entry permit is required to enter Wutai Township, with Class A tour buses prohibited from passing.
