Yanshan Alley Introduction
The Rock Board Alley is located in the Wutai Tribal area and is named for its entire path being paved with stone slabs. The route follows the meandering path of the hundred-step snake, and the sides of the path are decorated with clay pots. The alley is approximately 500 meters long, and as visitors explore, they can see three totemic guiding signs featuring "Lily," "Hundred-step Snake," and "Clouded Leopard," making for an intriguing adventure. Human-shaped statues stand in front of houses, and various carvings on doorframes and walls represent the homes of commoners, hunters, elders, and chiefs. The carvings along the alley depict many stories, including women weaving, tribal elders with weathered faces, heroic hunters, and joyous warriors celebrating their victories. Observing these sculptures not only provides insight into the daily lives of the Rukai people but also showcases their artistic achievements, making it an excellent introduction to Rukai culture. A suggested stay of about 1 hour is recommended, and visitors must obtain a mountain entry permit to enter Wutai Township. Large category A buses are prohibited from passing through.
