Duba Nan Memorial Hall Introduction

The Duban Nan Memorial Hall is located in Yanban Lane, Wutai Township. Teacher Duban Nan is a national treasure woodcarving artist, and many of the carving totems of the Wutai Rukai people originate from his works. The memorial hall is an art center dedicated to preserving his works, currently managed by his son. Outside the memorial hall, there is a "Ancestral Spirit Seat," a chair that only men can sit on, used for hanging hunting knives and guns. It is important to note that women must not approach or sit on it; any violation could result in the hunting knives and guns being unable to hunt game again. This site is only open for visits by overnight guests and requires advance reservations. Visitors must obtain a mountain entry permit to enter Wutai Township, and large Class A buses are prohibited. A suggested stay time is about 30 minutes, and it’s recommended to call ahead for a reservation to avoid disappointment.
