Shen Mountain Tribe Culinary School Introduction

The Shen Mountain Tribal Culinary School is located along Provincial Highway 24 in the Shen Mountain village of Wutai Township, surrounded by misty mountains that create a picturesque landscape. Recently, it has developed a "Tribal Culinary School," the first of its kind in Taiwan, guiding travelers into the fields to learn about both familiar and unfamiliar ingredients. Starting with cooking, visitors can experience the charm of the hometown. For example, the false sourberry is a common wild vegetable in the village, often found in front of many households, and it is an essential ingredient in the traditional cuisine of the Rukai tribe known as "cinabu." At the Tribal Culinary School, guests can enjoy hands-on experiences such as foraging for ingredients and DIY cooking. It is recommended to spend at least three hours there and to make a reservation with the community development association in advance to participate in the experience. Visitors must obtain a mountain entry permit to enter Wutai Township, and large buses are prohibited from passing through.
