Shenshan Aboriginal Culinary School Introduction

The Shenshan Tribal Culinary School is located along Provincial Highway 24 in the Shenshan Village of Wutai Township, where mist and mountain breezes intertwine throughout the year, creating a picturesque landscape reminiscent of a fairy tale. Recently developed, the "Tribal Culinary School" is Taiwan's first tribal culinary experience, guiding travelers into the fields to discover both familiar and unfamiliar ingredients. Starting with cooking, visitors can appreciate the charm of their indigenous origins. For example, the 'false tamarind' is a commonly found wild vegetable in the tribe, with many households growing a few plants in front of their homes. It is also an essential ingredient in the traditional culinary dish of the Rukai people called "cinabu." At the Tribal Culinary School, participants can enjoy the fun of foraging for ingredients and engaging in DIY cooking experiences. It is recommended to spend at least 3 hours here, and advance reservations with the community development association are required to participate in the experience. Visitors need to obtain a mountain entry permit to enter Wutai Township, and large buses are prohibited from passing through.
