Zhongshan Park Introduction
Zhongshan Park is located in Sandiam Township, directly opposite the Sandiam Township Office. It is the site of the Martyrs' Shrine from the Japanese colonial period and was planned as a park after the retrocession. It is a must-visit place for newcomers to Sandiam. The exterior walls of the park feature sixty stone slabs with snake patterns that depict the mythological stories and life events of the Paiwan people, conveying the trajectory of historical and cultural continuity. A prominent landmark within the park is the giant representation of the "Three Treasures of the Paiwan," made up of glass beads, ceramic pots, and bronze knives, showcasing a sacred and supreme glory, which are heirlooms of the indigenous people. Additionally, there is the renowned Sandiam Cultural Center in the park, where visitors can appreciate exquisite works of indigenous art and experience the essence of tribal craft creation. A suggested stay of about 30 minutes allows for walking in the park and enjoying public art created by local artists.
