Zhongshan Park Introduction
Zhongshan Park is located in the Zhongshan Park area of Sandimen Township (across from the Sandimen Township Office). It is the site of the Martyrs' Shrine from the Japanese colonial period, and it was repurposed as a park after the end of World War II, making it a must-visit place for those traveling to Sandimen for the first time. The park's outer wall features sixty stone slabs with snake patterns, which depict the mythological stories and life events of the Paiwan people, conveying the trajectory of historical and cultural continuity. A prominent landmark within the park is the giant representation of the Three Treasures of the Paiwan, made up of glass beads, ceramic pots, and bronze knives, showcasing a sacred and unparalleled glory, which is a treasured legacy of the indigenous people. Additionally, the park houses the well-known Sandimen Cultural Center, where visitors can appreciate exquisite works of indigenous art and experience the essence of tribal crafts. It is recommended to spend about 30 minutes here, as visitors can stroll through the park and admire the public art created by local artists.
