Zhongshan Park Introduction
Zhongshan Park is located in the Zhongshan Park area of Sandimen Township (opposite the Sandimen Township Office). It was the site of the Martyrs' Shrine during the Japanese colonial period and was planned as a park after the end of Japanese rule, making it a must-visit place for first-time visitors to Sandimen. The park's outer wall features sixty stone slabs with a snake-pattern design, which depict the mythological stories and life events of the Paiwan people, conveying the trajectory of historical and cultural continuity. A prominent landmark within the park is the giant symbols of the "Three Treasures of the Paiwan," composed of glass beads, a ceramic pot, and a bronze knife, showcasing a supremely sacred glory that is a family treasure of the indigenous people. In addition, there is the famous Sandimen Cultural Center within the park, where visitors can appreciate the splendid works of indigenous art and experience the essence of tribal handicrafts. A recommended stay of about 30 minutes allows for walking in the park and enjoying public art created by local artists.
