Sanhe Village Introduction
Sanhe Village is located on Ping 37 Country Road in Ma Jia Township, Pingtung. In 1943, an American pastor named George E. Light used resources from the Taiwan Christian Service (TCS) to assist the indigenous people originally from Wutai, Sandimen, and Ma Jia Townships to relocate and cultivate the wasteland at Ailiao. In 1967, the village was renamed "Sanhe Village" following a decision made at a village assembly. Sanhe Village actually consists of three communities: the North Village Yuchuan Community of the Paiwan tribe, the Middle Village Sanhe Community of the Paiwan tribe, and the South Village Meiyuan Community of the Paiwan and Rukai tribes. Many outstanding indigenous craftsmanship studios are located here, allowing visitors to experience indigenous culture and vitality. From April to June each year, the area produces a large quantity of local mangoes, making a mango smoothie an excellent experience. It is recommended to spend about one hour here, visiting various特色工坊 or purchasing特色伴手禮.
