Sanhe Tribe Introduction
Sanhe Village is located on Ping 37 Highway in Ma Jia Township, Pingtung County. In 1943, Pastor Chia Ai-Guang from the United States used resources from the Taiwan Christian Welfare Association (abbreviated as "TCS") to assist the indigenous people from Wutai, Sandimen, and Ma Jia Townships in relocating to Ai Liao for farming. In 1967, the village held a meeting and decided to rename it to "Sanhe Village." Sanhe Village comprises three communities: Beicun (Yuchuan Community) of the Paiwan people, Zhongcun (Sanhe Community) of the Paiwan people, and Nancun (Meiyuan Community) of the Paiwan and Rukai people. Many outstanding indigenous craft workshops are located here, allowing visitors to experience indigenous culture and vitality. From April to June every year, the area produces a large quantity of local mangoes, making a mango smoothie a wonderful experience. It is recommended to spend about an hour here, visiting various unique workshops or purchasing specialty souvenirs.
