Sanhe Village Introduction

Sanhe Village is located on County Road 37 in Ma Jie Township, Pingtung. In 1943, American pastor Joseph G. Aikwang used resources from the Taiwan Christian Welfare Association (TCS) to assist the indigenous peoples from Wutai, Sandimen, and Ma Jie Townships in relocating to Ailiao for land reclamation. In 1967, the village residents decided to rename it “Sanhe Village.” Sanhe Village actually consists of three villages—the Northern Village Yuchuan Community of the Paiwan people, the Central Village Sanhe Community of the Paiwan people, and the Southern Village Meiyuan Community, home to both the Paiwan and Rukai people. Many excellent indigenous craft workshops are located here, where visitors can experience indigenous culture and vitality. From April to June, the area produces a large quantity of local mangoes, and enjoying a mango smoothie is a fantastic experience. It is recommended to spend about an hour here to visit various unique workshops or purchase special souvenirs.
