Sanhe Village Introduction
Sanhe Village is located on the Ping 37 Township Road in Ma Jia Township, Pingtung. In 1943, an American pastor named George A. Kwan utilized resources from the Taiwan Christian Welfare Association (TCS) to assist the indigenous peoples who originally migrated from Wutai, Sandimen, and Ma Jia Townships to the Ailiao area for reclamation. In 1967, the villagers decided in a community meeting to rename it "Sanhe Village." Sanhe Village consists of three communities: Beicun Yuchuan Community of the Paiwan people, Zhongcun Sanhe Community of the Paiwan people, and Nancun Meiyuan Community, which is home to both the Paiwan and Rukai peoples. Many outstanding indigenous craft studios are located here, and visitors can experience the vibrant indigenous culture. Additionally, from April to June, the area produces a large quantity of native mangoes, making it a perfect time to enjoy a mango smoothie. It is recommended to spend about an hour visiting various unique workshops or shopping for specialty souvenirs in the village.
