Wanshan Village Introduction
Wanshan Tribe is located on the Route 132 in Maolin District. After passing the Maolin District Office, you will reach the entrance of Wanshan Tribe about 7 kilometers later. During the Japanese colonial period, Wanshan Village was known as "Mandaulan" and was originally situated at an altitude of 1,475 meters beneath Mantoulan Mountain. It was once the most remote village in Maolin District, and the residents are called "Oupunphuo." The old Wanshan still retains a complete slate house settlement and is home to the mysterious Wanshan Rock Carvings titled "The Mysterious Love Story of Gubacahi." Due to the treacherous roads, the village was collectively relocated to its current location in the 45th year of the Republic of China (1956). It is recommended to spend about 30-40 minutes here, and visitors can explore attractions such as the slate houses and the church below the tribe.
