Blue Bay Coastal Recreation Area Introduction
Compared to Fulong Beach, getting to this area requires additional public transportation or cycling, which adds to its sense of seclusion, allowing you to enjoy the comfort of having the entire beach to yourself! The golden sands of the Blue Bay Coastal Recreation Area stretch for 3 kilometers, reaching Fulong's golden coast. The best way to explore is to rent a bike and ride along the smooth and easy coastal bike path, observing the unique dune plants of the Northeast Coast and the shimmering Shuangxi River. After passing the Longmen Suspension Bridge for a wide view, you will reach your destination. The park offers a plethora of amenities, including a popular swimming beach with soft and fine quartz sand; nature trails, periodic events and exhibitions, barbecue areas, DIY experiences, and various landscape arts, providing numerous options for fun beyond just sand sculptures. You can't help but notice the "Yuanliao Anti-Japanese Monument" standing alongside the beach, quietly narrating the past history. During the 1895 Japenese occupation, Yuanliao was the first landing site for the Japanese army, marking the beginning of their colonial rule. A landing memorial was built here, which was destroyed by the public after Taiwan's restoration. In 1975, the original base was renovated into the current Anti-Japanese Monument, commemorating this period of resistance. In addition to feeling the historical sentiment, you must not miss the landscape art created from natural elements, combining the golden coast with sand sculptures, driftwood, iron pieces, bamboo, and wind chimes to tell various stories. This gives the park a strong indigenous element and a rich tropical flair. If you wish to relax and quench your thirst, you can visit the uniquely styled Blue Bay Café, where you can sip coffee and light meals in a classic Fujian-style building, enjoy the sea breeze, and savor the tranquility of this place.
