Aodi Fishing Port Introduction
Aodi Fishing Port is located in Zhenli Village, Gongliao District, New Taipei City. It was established as a small sheltered harbor during the Japanese colonial period. Surrounded on three sides by mountains, Aodi is naturally enclosed by a bay. The seabed mainly consists of rocks, reducing issues with drifting sand and providing excellent conditions for harbor construction. This allows fishing vessels from the local area and other ports to dock during fishing seasons or typhoons. In recent years, in line with tourism policies, the area has developed into an tourism-oriented fishery, promoting the growth of Aodi. It is now one of the important fishing ports along the Northeast Coast Highway. Thanks to favorable geographical conditions, Aodi's fishery resources are abundant, with marine plants like carrageenan, nori, and kelp contributing to its status as a major seafood distribution center on the northeastern coast. In less than a kilometer of seafood street, there are more than a dozen seafood shops of various sizes, offering fresh seafood at reasonable prices. Major catches include marlin, red snapper, small squid, cuttlefish, lobster, and grouper, leading to a concentration of many seafood restaurants near the port. Aodi Fishing Port has also added facilities such as a fish market, freezing plant, gas station, and ship repair yard, making it fully functional and allowing tourists to truly enjoy the cultural ambiance of the fishing port, solidifying Aodi Fishing Port as a primary seafood distribution center on the northeastern coast.
