Zen Mountain Monastery Introduction

Chenlin Temple is located midway up a mountain in Meishan, Chiayi County, and is famous for its extensive planting of plum trees, with over three thousand trees in the area. The garden is also home to various flowers such as peach, apricot, and azalea, creating a vibrant tapestry of colors that can be enjoyed in all seasons. It is also an excellent spot for moon gazing; the term "Meifang Yuezhai" refers to one of the Eight Sceneries of Zhu Luo from the past. The main hall of Chenlin Temple is impressive in stature and houses a statue of Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin), making it one of the top Buddhist sites in Meishan Township. In front of the temple stands a tall bamboo grove, providing a serene and elegant atmosphere. Due to the tranquil and solemn environment of the temple dedicated to Avalokiteshvara, worshippers visit throughout the year. Since ancient times, it has been an important place for religious faith and spiritual life. Ascending the ancient stone steps, one can enjoy a panoramic view of Meishan Township, immersing oneself in the sense of compassion from the Buddha and the subtle fragrance of tranquility.
