Yehliu Lighthouse Introduction
The Yehliu Lighthouse was built in 1967 and stands within the Yehliu Geopark in the Wanli District. Its establishment is related to the numerous submerged rocks and hazardous reefs in the nearby waters. Positioned between the radii of the lights from Fuguei Cape and Keelung Harbor, the lighthouse enhances the navigation function for Keelung Harbor and has long served as a guiding landmark for vessels at sea, making it one of the most important navigational references. The Yehliu Lighthouse is renowned for being the "most beautiful lighthouse in Taiwan." The lighthouse, located in the third district of Yehliu Geopark, features a red-tipped torch and a white circular base; from a distance, it resembles Yehliu's famous "Candlestick Rock." Walking north from the Yehliu Lighthouse leads to the tip of Yehliu Cape, where a pavilion offers a 270-degree panoramic view of the ocean, providing a refreshing sea breeze and a tranquil escape from the daily hustle and bustle. Due to its relatively remote location, it sees fewer visitors, making it a hidden gem.
