Yehliu Lighthouse Introduction
The Yehliu Lighthouse was built in 1967 and stands within the Yehliu Geopark in Wanli District. Its establishment is related to the reefs and dangerous rocks in the nearby waters, positioned between the radii of the Cape Fuguei and Keelung Harbor lighthouses, enhancing navigational functions for Keelung Harbor. For many years, it has steadfastly guided vessels at sea and is considered one of the most important navigational landmarks. Known as "the most beautiful lighthouse in Taiwan," the Yehliu Lighthouse is located in the third area of Yehliu Geopark. Its red-topped torch and white circular base resemble the famous "Candlestick Rock" of Yehliu when viewed from a distance. Walking north from the Yehliu Lighthouse leads to the tip of Yehliu Cape, where there is a pavilion with a 270-degree excellent view. It offers a gentle sea breeze and a panoramic view of the vast ocean, allowing visitors to escape from the daily hustle and bustle. Due to its relatively distant location, it is less frequented by tourists, making it a hidden gem.
