Niu Liaopu Trail Introduction
The Niuliao Pu Trail connects to the Yinghan Ridge Trail, with a steep descent on the right side of the pavilion at the fork, famously known as the "1,300 Steps." In comparison, the Yinghan Ridge Trail has a length of 1,563 meters, ascending to the elevation of 616 meters at Guanyin Mountain. The Niuliao Pu Trail, at about 907 meters in length, manages to achieve the height of Yinghan Ridge in just half the distance, indicating a steep incline. About 100 meters into the trail, a path extends to a summit area, known as "Zhongle Garden," established by fellow hikers, where one can enjoy a panoramic view of the Tamsui River estuary and the Datun Volcano group across the river. The mountain-sea scenery is magnificent, drawing visitors to linger. To the right side of Zhongle Garden, the trail continues downward; approximately 300 meters later, there is the "Ivory Stone Viewing Platform," offering a broad view of various landmarks, including Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf, Shalun Beach, Fort San Domingo, Bali Ferry Terminal, and Tamsui Old Street. The trail then continues steeply downward, with dense forest cover, and the stone steps can sometimes be slippery, requiring careful footing. Along the way, the acacia trees stand tall and stout, often arching over the trail, providing a spectacular view. About 600 meters along, there is a pavilion, perfect for a short rest or a distant view of the Tamsui riverside and the lush ridges of Yangmingshan. The gentle breeze invigorates the spirit, prompting travelers to continue their journey.
