Niu Liao Pu Trail Introduction

The Niu Liaopu Trail connects with the Ying Han Ridge Trail, with a steep descent on the right side of the pavilion at the fork, which is famously known as the "1,300 steps." The Ying Han Ridge Trail is 1,563 meters long and ascends to an elevation of 616 meters at Guanyin Mountain, while the Niu Liaopu Trail completes the height of Ying Han Ridge with only about half its length, approximately 907 meters, indicating a steep incline. About 100 meters into the trail, a path extends to a plateau called "Zhong Leyuan," built by mountaineering friends, where visitors can overlook the Tamsui River estuary and the Datun Volcano Group across the river. The magnificent view of the sea and mountains truly captivates the heart. To the right of Zhong Leyuan, the trail descends in steps, and approximately 300 meters ahead is the "Ivory Rock Viewing Platform," which offers a wide view, allowing one to see Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf, Shalun Beach, Fort San Domingo, Bali Ferry Terminal, and Tamsui Old Street. The trail continues its steep descent through dense forest, where the stone steps can be slippery at times, requiring careful footing. Along the way, the trunks of Acacia trees are tall and robust, often arching over the trail, creating a spectacular sight. About 600 meters in, there is a pavilion for resting and enjoying views of the Tamsui riverbank and the rolling green hills of Yangmingshan. A refreshing breeze invigorates you, prompting you to set forth again to continue the unfinished journey.
