Sanlong Temple Introduction
Sanlong Temple, commonly known as the Wangye Temple, is dedicated to the three surnames Wangye of Chifang. It is also referred to as Sanfu Qiansui. The temple began when the deity, known as San Qiansui Wangye, arrived on a small boat to Xiaoliuqiu and a grass temple was established. The Sanlong Temple Sanfu Qiansui holds a Peace Festival every three years, which is a significant event in Liuqiu Township. During the festival, those who have moved away return with their families, and fishing boats from Liuqiu temporarily cease operations to return to Xiaoliuqiu, filling the harbor with boats of various sizes. On the evening before the festival, the township office also holds a Wang Ship Festival event, complete with fireworks, making it a grand occasion. Men on the island, regardless of class, participate in the grand procession, while women are responsible for providing snacks and lunch for the procession and worshippers. There are also drinks available along the route for everyone, embodying the unique welcoming traditions of Xiaoliuqiu for the Wangye.
