Cide Temple Introduction
Cide Temple is a temple dedicated to honoring Huang Wei, known as the "Person of Virtue and Integrity." The unique craftsmanship of Cide Temple is reflected in three aspects: Jiaozhi pottery, paper-cutting and sticking, and stone carving. Jiaozhi pottery includes six vivid pieces such as the Dragon and Tiger Wall, mirror closures, and opposing closures. Paper-cutting and sticking are featured in the decorative dragon designs on the ridge beam and apex of the temple roof. Stone carving encompasses exquisite carvings found on all the columns made of blue sandstone, the door lintels, and the granite materials of the base cabinets, wall closures, and stone columns, which are intricately carved with pavilions, figures, floral motifs, and dramatic stories. These three characteristics represent the richest and most well-preserved features among the temples in Kinmen. It was designated as a county-level historic monument in 1997.
