Nan Shui Hu Park Introduction
Nan Shi Hu Park, known as the "Mini Zhangjiajie," is located at the southeastern corner of Kinmen, off the coast of Liao Luo Village. It was once a mining site for underground granite, which has a diverse and beautiful pattern and is harder than marble. Many famous buildings, such as the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and Taoyuan International Airport, used granite sourced from here. Granite mining was halted in 2002 due to economic inefficiency, and to align with environmental protection efforts, the site was transformed into Nan Shi Hu Park. Entering the park, visitors encounter small stone lions by the water reservoir, and the pool behind the stone railing reflects the granite cliffs. The traces of human extraction give the cliff a unique beauty, resembling a miniature version of Zhangjiajie, echoing the nearby Liao Luo Bay, which records Kinmen's industrial and cultural history. The park also features the country's first shouting spring facility, popular among visitors who come to relieve stress by shouting and enjoy the therapeutic sight of the water shooting high into the air! The shouting spring is open at the following times: (1) Summer hours: April to September, from 9 AM to 6 PM. (2) Winter hours: October to March, from 9 AM to 5 PM. The cost for each experience is NT$20, and visitors are advised to bring coins.
