Nanshihu Park Introduction
Nan Shi Hu Park is known as the "Mini Zhangjiajie," located on the southeastern coast of Liao Luo Village in Kinmen. It was once a mining site for underground granite, and the granite produced in Kinmen features diverse and beautiful patterns with a hardness superior to marble. Many famous buildings, including the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and Taoyuan International Airport, use stone sourced from this area. After the granite mining was halted in 2002 due to lack of economic viability, the site was transformed into Nan Shi Hu Park in line with environmental protection efforts. Upon entering the park, visitors can encounter the small wind lion gods by the reservoir, and the water pool reflects the granite walls behind the stone guardrail. The artificial traces from the mining give the rock face a unique aesthetic, resembling a miniature version of Zhangjiajie, and echoing the nearby Liao Luo Bay, preserving the industrial cultural history of Kinmen. This park also features the nation’s first shout fountain, which is very popular and offers a way for visitors to relieve stress by shouting, while watching the fountain spray high is quite therapeutic! The operating hours for the shout fountain are: (1) Summer hours: April to September, from 9 AM to 6 PM. (2) Winter hours: October to March, from 9 AM to 5 PM. Each experience costs NT$20, and please bring your own change.
