Nan Shih Hu Park Introduction
Nan Stone Hu Park, known as the "Mini Zhangjiajie," is located off the southeastern coast of Liaoluo Village in Kinmen. It was once a quarry for underground granite extraction, and the granite produced in Kinmen features diverse and beautiful patterns, with a hardness superior to that of marble. Many famous buildings, such as the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and Taoyuan International Airport, are constructed from this granite. After granite extraction ceased in 2002 due to lack of economic viability, the former quarry was transformed into the current Nan Stone Hu Park to comply with environmental protection efforts. Upon entering the park, visitors encounter the small wind lions by the reservoir, and the water pool behind the stone railing reflects the granite walls. The artificial extraction marks give the rock faces a unique aesthetic, resembling a mini version of Zhangjiajie, and echoing with the nearby Liaoluo Bay, recording the industrial cultural history of Kinmen. The park also features the country's first shouting spring facility, which is very popular among visitors. Shouting to relieve stress while watching the spring water spray high is quite soothing! The shouting spring is open during the following hours: (1) Summer time: April to September, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. (2) Winter time: October to March, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Each experience costs NT$20, and please bring your own change.
