Shamei Wan'an Temple Introduction

According to the records of Kinmen County, the Shamei Wan'an Hall was built during the Yuan Dynasty, over 700 years ago, making it the oldest Baosheng Emperor temple in Kinmen County. The Baosheng Emperor is regarded as the "God of Medicine" in folk belief, commonly known as "Da Dao Gong," "Wu Zhen Ren," or "Hua Qiao Gong." In an era when medicine was not advanced, if someone in the family fell ill, people would go to the temple to seek divine help and advice for remedies, which proved to be quite effective. Therefore, the Baosheng Emperor became an important deity for seeking blessings and healing in Kinmen's folk beliefs. After three reconstructions, the current site is where it was later relocated and rebuilt. In 2009, it was planned as the "Wan'an Hall Origin Memorial Park" in conjunction with the local environment, featuring a stone statue of the Baosheng Emperor riding a white horse, a monument recording his life achievements, and a zodiac stone for fortune-telling, which was selected as one of Taiwan's top religious scenic spots.
