Daitian Temple Introduction
Eastern Gate Da Tian Temple, located in Kinmen, is an important center of faith for local residents. Although there is no specific date for its establishment, it is said to date back to the Ming Dynasty. In the early days, the temple primarily enshrined Lord Wen, but later, during a巡狩, Lord Chi, invited by Lord Wen, became co-patrons of the area to oversee the local community, resulting in the dual worship of these two deities for regional peace. The primary deity Lord Chi is believed to have originated from the "Yuanwei Hall" in Fujian's Maxiang, where its incense offerings are abundant and greatly revered by devotees. The temple underwent a small-scale renovation in 1978 and was rebuilt in 1993 to take on its current form, blending the beauty of traditional architecture with modern craftsmanship, creating a solemn and dignified atmosphere. Each year, the 18th day of the sixth lunar month is an important festival day for Eastern Gate Da Tian Temple, when benevolent men and women from various places gather together to offer incense and pray for blessings, making it a vibrant occasion. It is an excellent opportunity to experience the local religious culture and community spirit of Kinmen. Whether exploring history, admiring temple architecture, or feeling the power of traditional beliefs, Eastern Gate Da Tian Temple is an essential stop for travelers.
