Chen Shiyin Western-style House Introduction
The Chen Shiyin Western-style Mansion was built in 1932 by Chen Shiyin, a businessman from Gaoping, Kinmen, who became wealthy from trading in Singapore and Indonesia during the late Qing Dynasty (1903). In 2006, it was designated as a county heritage site. The overall architecture is a Chinese-style Western mansion, constructed with brick walls and flat stone walls; the structure features a hard-hill design with an arrangement for rear eaves, showcasing a grand scale. The decorative elements are exquisite, with distinctly tropical-themed window lintels and louvers. The facade is adorned with motifs such as the double dragons embracing a fairy on the mountain head, column capitals, and eaves decorations that display a blend of Eastern and Western themes. Among the mansion's most valuable architectural decorations are the "Hanfan Tai Czuo Jiao" and the "Indian Fan Yong Gu Li Ren Ou Pan Tuo Xian Tao" on the wall of the mountain head.
