Chen Shiyin Western-style Mansion Introduction
The Chen Shiyin Western-style Building was constructed in 1903 by Chen Shiyin, who traveled from Jincheng Township in Kinmen to Singapore and Indonesia to become wealthy. In 1932, he invested 30,000 silver dollars to build this house. In 2006, it was designated as a county-level historic site. The overall architecture is characterized by a turtle-shaped structure, with the main body made of brick walls and flat stone walls; the house features a hard hill roof and also includes rear extensions, making it grand in scale. The Western decorations are exquisite, featuring tropical-style window frames and shutters. The facade showcases various themes, including twin dragons embracing a fairy on the peak, column capitals, and eaves decorations that reflect both Eastern and Western styles. The building's most valuable architectural decorations are the "dumb foreigner carrying the house corner" and the "Indian style encouraging figure on a plate holding a fairy peach" on the wall of the peak.
