Qionglin Battle Cave Introduction
The Qionglin Combat Tunnel, measuring 1,355 meters in length, is the largest civil defense tunnel in Kinmen. The complex tunnels are intricately distributed underground in Qionglin Village, featuring 12 entrances that connect to important buildings within the village and lead to the gun emplacements outside the village. The entrance is located directly beneath the Qionglin Village Office. The Qionglin Combat Tunnel was constructed as a village defense facility during the standoff across the Taiwan Strait and was completed in 1976. The tunnel is equipped with a command center, machine gun emplacements, water wells, among other features, all prepared for prolonged conflict. The dim lighting within the tunnel creates a somewhat disorienting atmosphere, and the narrow, labyrinth-like pathways lead to various sections. When visiting Qionglin, it's worthwhile to personally explore the Qionglin Combat Tunnel to experience the tense atmosphere of wartime and the labor involved in constructing the tunnel.
