Qionglin Battle Tunnels Introduction
The Qionglin Combat Tunnel, stretching 1,355 meters, is the largest civil defense tunnel in Kinmen. This complex network of tunnels lies beneath Qionglin Village and features 12 entrances that connect to important buildings within the village and lead to machine gun emplacements outside the village. The entrance is located directly beneath the Qionglin Village Office. The Qionglin Combat Tunnel was constructed as a defensive facility during the period of confrontation across the Taiwan Strait, and it was completed in 1976. The tunnel includes command posts, machine gun ports, and wells, all prepared for prolonged combat. The dim lights inside create a disoriented visual effect, and the narrow, maze-like corridors lead to various areas. When visiting Qionglin, be sure to walk through the Qionglin Combat Tunnel to experience the tense atmosphere of wartime and the labor involved in its construction.
