Nine-Turn Tunnel Introduction
To carry out the "Renovation Project for Lieyu Jinshan Wharf and Surrounding Areas," the Jiugong Tunnel and Lieyu Visitor Center will be closed for renovations starting from June 5, 2025, and will not be open to the public. The reopening date will be announced based on the progress of the project, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. The most famous Jiugong Tunnel in Little Kinmen, like the Zhaishan Tunnel in Big Kinmen, was built during wartime to ensure the safety of military supply operations, using an underground operational facility built primarily of hard granite. The Jiugong Tunnel, excavated with simple equipment and manpower during wartime, was completed in 1965. It is a double T-shaped waterway, approximately 750 meters long, about 12 meters wide, and about 7 meters high, starting from Jiugong Wharf and penetrating the mountain all the way to Luocuo Fish Port. The spacious and intricately designed Jiugong Tunnel has four sea outlets and five underground tunnels connected to the wharf, capable of accommodating 52 small boats. Currently, to alleviate wartime fears, the tunnel has wax figures simulating the conditions during the excavation, allowing visitors to experience the hardships of the past. Lieyu Visitor Center Tour Guide: Regular explanation times are 9:50, 10:40, 14:00, and 14:50. The tour duration is about 15 minutes.
