Nine Forts Tunnel Introduction
The most famous tunnel in Little Kinmen is the Jiu Gong Tunnel, which, like the Zhushan Tunnel in Greater Kinmen, was constructed during wartime to ensure the safety of military logistics. The main body of the tunnel is made of hard granite. Carved out with simple equipment and manpower during wartime, the Jiu Gong Tunnel was completed in 1965. It features a double T-shaped waterway that extends approximately 750 meters in total length, with a width of around 12 meters and a height of about 7 meters. Starting from Jiu Gong Wharf, it penetrates the mountain and continues all the way to Luocuo Fishing Port. The spacious and intricately designed Jiu Gong Tunnel has four sea outlets and five underground tunnels connecting to the wharf, capable of accommodating 52 small boats. Currently, to alleviate the fears of wartime, the tunnel displays simulated wax figures, recreating the conditions during the tunnel's excavation, allowing visitors to experience the hardships of the past.
