Nine Generals' Cave Introduction

The "Lieyu Jin San Pier and Surrounding Area Reconstruction Project" will result in the closure of the Jiugong Tunnel and the Lieyu Visitor Center for renovations starting from June 5, 2025, and will temporarily cease public access. The reopening time will be announced later based on the progress of the project, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. The Jiugong Tunnel, the most famous site in Little Kinmen, is an underground military facility similar to the Zhushan Tunnel in Greater Kinmen, constructed to ensure the safety of military supply operations during wartime. The tunnel is primarily made of hard granite. The Jiugong Tunnel, excavated using simple equipment and manpower, was completed in 1965. It is a double T-shaped waterway approximately 750 meters long, with a main tunnel about 12 meters wide and 7 meters high, starting from Jiugong Pier and extending through the mountain to the Luocuo Fishing Port. The spacious and intricately designed Jiugong Tunnel features 4 exits to the sea and 5 underground tunnels connecting to the pier, accommodating 52 small boats. Currently, to alleviate wartime fears, the tunnel houses simulated wax figures that recreate the conditions during its excavation, allowing visitors to experience the hardships of the past. Guided tours at the Lieyu Visitor Center are available at scheduled times: 9:50, 10:40, 14:00, and 14:50, with each tour lasting about 15 minutes.
