Jian Gong Isle Introduction
Jian Gong Islet is located at the mouth of the Wujiang River in Jincheng, covering an area of about 500 square meters. It is also known as Dongyu, Zhuyu, and Ao Islet. It serves as a sentinel on the sea between Kinmen Island and Lieyu, with the steadfast islet standing like a pillar in the current, hence the name "Jian Gong Pillar." When the tide recedes, in addition to seeing the rich intertidal life, visitors can ascend Jian Gong Islet along the stone path, which is why it is also referred to as the "Moses of Kinmen." The statue of Koxinga (Zheng Chenggong) on the island faces another statue of Koxinga located on Gulangyu Island in Xiamen. Along with the tall "Oyster Man" installations on both sides of the stone path, they are popular sights for tourists! Tide information for Jian Gong Islet can be found here.
