Father Robert D. E. Fr. Memorial Park Introduction
Father Robert Taft came to Kinmen in 1954 due to the impact of the war and settled there, participating in the treatment of the injured during the artillery battles. He dedicated his life and efforts to improving the medical techniques and facilities for the people of Kinmen, who were facing significant challenges at that time. The Robert Taft Memorial Park, located by the shores of Taihu in Jincheng Township, is the site of the "Catholic Church" where Father Taft treated the people of Kinmen. After his passing, the site fell into neglect and disrepair for a long time. To honor Father Taft's contributions to Kinmen, a quaint Roman arch plaza was established at the original site, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a European town, with pure white cascading over the walls of the church. The white gravel pathway leads directly to the front gate. Although currently only the facade of the church conveys its significance, it still reflects the deep respect Kinmen has for Father Taft.
