Father Robert Taft Memorial Park Introduction
Father Roberto Tadeo arrived in Kinmen in 1954 due to the impacts of warfare and settled there, participating in the treatment of the wounded during the artillery battles. He dedicated his life to improving the medical care of Kinmen, which was lacking in medical technology and equipment at the time. The Father Roberto Tadeo Memorial Park, located by the lake in Jinhou Township, is the site of the former "Catholic Church" where Father Roberto provided medical care for the local people. After the priest's passing, the site fell into disrepair due to neglect, but to honor Father Roberto's contributions to Kinmen, a small Roman arch plaza was established at the original location, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a European town. Pure white spreads across the walls of the church, and a white gravel path leads visitors up to its entrance. Although currently only the front view of the church conveys an image, it does not diminish Kinmen's respect for Father Roberto.
