Statue of Liu Yuchang Introduction
In 1954, General Liu Yu-chang took over as the Commander of the Kinmen Defense Command, during which he directed the "Ninety-Three Artillery Battle" and led the troops in digging trenches, excavating tunnels, and constructing the Ta Wu Mountain hiking trail, laying the foundation for Kinmen's underground defense system, which played a crucial role in the later "Eighty-Three Artillery Battle." To honor General Liu's contributions, then-President Chiang Kai-shek named the Ta Wu Mountain Road "Yu-chang Road" and established a statue of General Liu Yu-chang at the mountainside to commemorate his outstanding achievements.
