Yihsing Suspension Bridge Introduction
Do you remember the scene in the movie "Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale" where the Seediq warriors stand on the Rainbow Bridge, bravely fighting for freedom? This road to the eternal hunting ground is sacred and beautiful. Now, coming to Lofu, following in the footsteps of the hunters to visit this hidden paradise, whether exploring tribal culture or enjoying the magnificent natural scenery, you can gain so much! The Yihsing Suspension Bridge, built in 1966, is the only water pipe bridge in Taoyuan. Originally constructed for irrigation with attached water pipes, it was renovated in 2013, increasing the number of pedestrians from 10 to 100. The Yihsing Suspension Bridge is approximately 200 meters long, and standing on its iron mesh and wooden surface, 70 meters high (about 15 stories), feels like walking a tightrope, overlooking the charming landscape of the Dahan River Valley. The gentle sound of the flowing river makes one feel relaxed and at ease. In April and May, the tung blossoms decorate the mountains, creating a poetic scene! Even if the height may be intimidating, it allows you to enjoy this breathtaking view and a sense of achievement after overcoming yourself! To reach the Yihsing Suspension Bridge, you can proceed from Lofu Elementary School along Provincial Highway 7, where you will see signs for "Lofu Village, Yihsing Bridge" at the northern entrance. If you want to build up your stamina or dive deeper into nature, consider taking the ancient irrigation path left from the Japanese colonial period starting from the Xiaowulai Sky Bridge. Walking along the gravel path and elevated wooden boardwalk, the trail is gentle and easy, with only the beginning and end requiring some climbing stairs, making it a friendly route for family outings. The scenery along the way is full of natural beauty, weaving through bamboo forests, providing a rare experience in the city. Additionally, you can enjoy views of the Lofu and Fuxing Bridges spanning the mountains, alleviating the fatigue of hiking, and adding a unique sense of adventure in the mountains.
