Yihsing Suspension Bridge Introduction
Do you remember the scene in the movie "Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale," where the Seediq warriors bravely fight for freedom on the Rainbow Bridge? This road to the eternal hunting grounds is sacred and beautiful. Today, come to Luofu and follow in the footsteps of the hunters to visit this hidden gem. Whether you explore tribal culture or appreciate the stunning natural scenery, you can gain so much! The Yihsing Suspension Bridge, built in 1966, is the only water pipe bridge in Taoyuan. Originally used for irrigation with a water pipe, it was renovated in 2013, increasing the capacity for pedestrians from 10 to 100 people at a time. The bridge is approximately 200 meters long, and standing on the iron mesh deck and wooden surface, at 15 stories high (around 70 meters), you will feel a thrilling sensation as if walking on a tightrope. Overlook the mesmerizing views of the Dahan Creek Valley, with the soothing sound of flowing water refreshing both body and mind. In April and May, the mountain scenery is adorned with tung flowers, creating a poetic atmosphere! Even if the height is daunting, you can enjoy this breathtaking vista and the overwhelming sense of achievement that comes from overcoming fears! To reach the Yihsing Suspension Bridge, you can head from Luofu Elementary School along Provincial Highway 7, where you'll find signs for "Luofu Village. Yihsing Bridge" at the northern entrance. If you want to build your stamina or engage more deeply with nature, consider taking the historic waterway path from the Xiaowulai Sky Rope Bridge, which dates back to the Japanese colonial period. Walking on the gravel paths and elevated wooden boardwalks is relatively easy, requiring only ladder climbs at the starting and ending points, making it a family-friendly route. Along the way, you’ll experience natural beauty, meandering through lush bamboo groves, which is a rare urban experience. Additionally, you can admire the Luofu and Fuxing Double Bridges spanning the mountains, alleviating the fatigue of your hike and adding a sense of wilderness to your journey in the mountains.
