The Xincheng community, located in Baoshan Township, Hsinchu County, has a history dating back to the Qing Dynasty when Jin Guangfu began cultivating the area around Beipu, leading to the development of scattered settlements here, which were then referred to as Xincheng Zhuang. After the Japanese colonial period, due to the suitability of the soil near Baoshan for growing sweet sugarcane, Xincheng became one of Taiwan's important sugar-producing areas. More than a decade ago, Xincheng was still home to large sugarcane fields, where sugarcane was transported to sugar factories via carts, transforming into fragrant, sweet brown sugar.
