St. Therese's Church Introduction
The St. Therese Church is the main pilgrimage site of the Catholic Diocese of Hsinchu, also known as the Hsincheng Catholic Church. St. Therese is a Spanish Catholic saint, greatly admired by Catholics throughout the ages, and there are Catholic churches named after Therese all around the world. Looking up, the enormous statue of St. Therese on the church's exterior reveals the church's mission of mercy and salvation! Ascending to the second floor of the church, the sanctuary's windows are all made of stained glass, with afternoon sunlight streaming through, casting different golden hues on all the glass. Strolling down the small path outside the church, one can see the solemn and compassionate statue of the Virgin Mary. As you approach, Jesus, who suffered for humanity, is depicted nailed to the cross, standing between heaven and earth. Along the path, stone carvings depict the 15 Stations of the Cross, vividly reminding us of the events.
