Heron House Introduction

The "Egret" is commonly known as the "White Crane" among Hakka people. In this town, the Ailan and Lancheng areas are home to lush mixed forests, acclaimed for housing the largest Egret Sanctuary in Taiwan. Occasionally, flocks of egrets can be seen flying gracefully, creating a spectacular scene as they hunt for small fish, insects, and grains. They are migratory birds that fly south to avoid the cold in autumn and return north to nest and breed in the spring, with populations reaching as high as 60,000 to 70,000, creating a breathtaking sight. This is also a significant characteristic of the egrets' habitat. We sincerely urge birdwatchers visiting this place to observe, cherish, and not disturb them!
