The owner indicated that her father-in-law, who came from Fujian, settled in Hsinchu and learned to make rice noodles from the locals. He further improved the ratio of rice noodles to sweet potato starch to create rice noodles that are chewy and aromatic. The name of the store comes from the previously operating "Daqian Electric Store," which was carried over to form the name of Daqian Ice Shop.
