Pizzoni French Bistro Introduction
A fusion of Taiwanese and French cuisine? This is the most humorous French restaurant in Chiayi, where dishes like fried squid, grilled pork rice dumplings, and salty crispy chicken are served, along with chicken rice on the menu! One can't help but wonder, is this really a French restaurant? Chef Jerry of Pissonni French Bistro, who previously worked at the Ambassador Hotel, returned to Chiayi to start his own business, aiming to overturn people’s perception of French dining by replacing the distant dining atmosphere with a warm family kitchen, and creatively interpreting Taiwanese street food flavors using French techniques. A dish called Salad is actually fried squid, featuring fresh and tender cuttlefish paired with lettuce, hiding a raw-grade scallop underneath, and the dipping sauce surprisingly tastes like oyster omelet... The butter spread on the bread carries the aroma of grilled pork rice dumplings... The ultra-thin meat paper named "salty crispy chicken" is made from local chicken meat that is pounded and then slowly pressed into thin slices. Beyond the chef's playful spirit, his duck confit is among the best in Chiayi. Chef Jerry's family has even cooked for underprivileged children at orphanages across Taiwan, and during the pandemic, they launched meal vouchers to help those in need. Truly heartwarming.
