Xingjia Bridge Introduction

Wàn Ní Hóng - Xíngjiā Suspension Bridge "Xíngjiā Suspension Bridge," as the name suggests, is a suspension bridge that passes through Chiayi City. It was built in 2007 to facilitate the commute and interaction between schoolchildren and residents across the river, funded and constructed by the well-known He Mingde Charity Foundation. The bridge connects Xing'an Village and Xingcun Village. The Xíngjiā Suspension Bridge features a 3.1-kilometer bike path planted with Taiwan's Amorphophallus, and on the south side, there is the Riverside Sports Park and Water Park in the Xingren section. Additionally, the ecological walking path, ecological garden, and the religious wood carving art of Cìxuán Temple in the Xingcun section symbolize the gradual formation of an ecological leisure space in the southern part of Chiayi City. To promote local tourism, the Chiayi City Government has installed night neon lighting on the bridge, making the suspension bridge, under the night sky, look like it is adorned with a long, shining necklace of luminous pearls, standing out brilliantly in the darkness. With its unique nighttime charm, it has become a beautiful landmark of urban allure. Historical Fact: The Xíngjiā Suspension Bridge is the 330th bridge built by the He Mingde Charity Foundation and is currently the longest bridge constructed by the foundation. The funding and labor for its construction were entirely provided by the foundation. Construction began on November 26, 2006, and was completed on September 23, 2007, taking a total of 10 months. The bridge measures 297 meters in total length, 33.2 meters in height, and 1.65 meters in width, designed as a double-span three-pier suspension bridge. To ensure pedestrian safety and prevent the bridge from swaying in strong winds, steel beams and supporting wooden planks were laid during construction. Wooden guardrails and a steel frame base were installed on both sides. Additionally, to enhance the stability of the suspension bridge, special steel cables in the shape of centipede legs were installed under both sides of the bridge deck for added support.
