Xingjia Suspension Bridge Introduction

WAN Neon - Hsing-Chia Suspension Bridge, as the name suggests, is a suspension bridge that passes through Chiayi City. It was built in 2007 to facilitate communication and travel for local schoolchildren and residents across the river, funded and supported by the well-known He Ming-te Foundation. The bridge connects Hsing-An Li and Hsing-Cun Li. The Hsing-Chia Suspension Bridge features a 3.1-kilometer cycling path planted with Taiwan's Luan trees, while to the south are the Riverside Sports Park and Waterside Park in the Hsing-Ren section. Additionally, the ecological trail, ecological garden, and religious wood carvings at Tzu-Hsien Temple in the Hsing-Cun section symbolize the gradual emergence of an ecological leisure space in the southern part of Chiayi City. To promote local tourism, the Chiayi City Government has installed neon lights for nighttime illumination on the bridge, making the suspension bridge, under the night sky, resemble a long, sparkling necklace of glowing pearls, standing out with unique nighttime charm and becoming a beautiful landmark of the urban blue ribbon. Historical Trivia: The Hsing-Chia Suspension Bridge is the 330th bridge constructed by the Chiayi He Ming-te Foundation and is the longest bridge built by the foundation to date. The funding and manpower for its construction were entirely provided by the foundation. Construction began on November 26, 2006, and was completed on September 23, 2007, taking a total of 10 months. The bridge spans 297 meters in total length, stands 33.2 meters high, and is 1.65 meters wide. It is a suspension bridge with dual spans and three piers, designed for pedestrian safety to prevent swaying in strong winds. During construction, steel beams and supporting wooden planks were laid on the bridge, with wooden handrails and steel frame bases installed on both sides. To increase the stability of the suspension bridge, special centipede-foot steel cables were installed beneath the bridge deck for additional support.
