Xingjia Bridge Introduction

Evening Neon - Xingjia Suspension Bridge As the name suggests, the Xingjia Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge that passes through Chiayi City. It was built in 2007 to facilitate the commute of schoolchildren and residents on both sides, funded and constructed by the well-known He Mingde Charity Foundation. The bridge connects Xing'an Village and Xingcun Village. The Xingjia Suspension Bridge features a 3.1-kilometer bicycle path planted with Taiwan’s sweet gum trees. To the south, there is the Riverside Sports Park and the Waterside Park in the Xingren section; alongside the ecological trail, ecological garden, and the religious wooden sculpture art of Cixuan Temple in the Xingcun section, all symbolizing the gradual formation of ecological leisure space in the southern area of Chiayi City. Currently, in order to promote local tourism, the Chiayi City Government has installed neon lights on the bridge, making it stand out at night, resembling a long, glowing necklace of luminous pearls, becoming a beautiful landmark of the urban blue ribbon with its unique nocturnal charm. Historical Fact Sheet: The Xingjia Suspension Bridge is the 330th bridge constructed by the He Mingde Charity Foundation in Chiayi and the longest bridge built by the foundation to date. The funding and labor for its construction were entirely provided by the foundation. The bridge commenced construction on November 26, 2006, and was completed on September 23, 2007, taking a total of 10 months to finish. It spans a total length of 297 meters, stands 33.2 meters high, and is 1.65 meters wide. It is a double-span, three-pier suspension bridge, designed for pedestrian safety and to prevent swaying due to strong winds. During construction, steel beams and supportive wooden walkway planks were laid on the bridge. Wooden guardrails and steel base frames were installed on both sides; in addition, to enhance the bridge's stability, centipede-like steel cables were specially installed beneath both sides of the bridge deck for added security.
