Xingjia Suspension Bridge Introduction
Wan Neon - Hsing-Jia Suspension Bridge As the name suggests, the Hsing-Jia Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge that crosses Chiayi City. It was built in 2007 to facilitate the commuting of school children and residents across the river, funded and constructed by the renowned He Ming-De Charity Foundation. The bridge connects Hsing-An Village and Hsing-Cun Village. The Hsing-Jia Suspension Bridge features a 3.1-kilometer cycling path planted with Taiwanese Ficus trees, with the southern side incorporating the Riverside Sports Park and Waterside Park in the Hsing-Ren section. Additionally, the ecological trail, ecological garden, and the wooden religious sculpture art of the Ci-Hsuan Temple on the Hsing-Cun section symbolize the gradually forming ecological leisure space in the southern district of Chiayi City. Currently, in order to promote local tourism, the Chiayi City Government has installed neon lights on the bridge, allowing it to shine like a long, sparkling pearl necklace at night, creating a stunning visual appeal that serves as a beautiful landmark for the urban landscape. Historical Trivia: The Hsing-Jia Suspension Bridge is the 330th bridge built by the He Ming-De Charity Foundation and is the longest bridge constructed by the foundation to date. The funding and labor for its construction were entirely provided by the foundation. Construction began on November 26, 2006, and was completed on September 23, 2007, taking a total of 10 months. The bridge spans 297 meters in length, stands 33.2 meters high, and is 1.65 meters wide. It is a double-span, three-pier suspension bridge designed for pedestrian safety and to prevent swaying in strong winds. During construction, steel beams and supporting wooden planks were laid on the bridge, and wooden railings and steel bases were installed on both sides. To further enhance the stability of the suspension bridge, steel cables resembling centipedes were installed beneath the bridge on both sides for stabilization.
