Fu-Chang Restaurant Introduction
Located on Pingxi Old Street, the simple and rustic "Fuchang Restaurant" has been in operation since 1957 and is famous for its authentic and straightforward local snacks. It is also a favorite gathering place for local celebrations and banquets. Formerly known as "Yonggelou," Fuchang Restaurant specialized in banquet meals during the golden age of mining, where the head chef could serve up authentic Taiwanese flavors, and the dishes offered are as abundant as those at a banquet. The "Taro Trio," which is difficult to find in typical restaurants, evokes a nostalgic and rich old-school taste with its first bite, making it worth trying. Additionally, Pingxi is renowned for its abundant "asparagus bamboo." If you visit in late autumn or early winter around November, you must try the fresh and authentic "Pingxi Asparagus Bamboo," which is quickly stir-fried with tender asparagus, fermented soybeans, and chili bean paste, resulting in a crispy and appetizing dish that is definitely not to be missed! The "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall," commonly found at banquets, is also one of the highly recommended signature dishes. Made with chicken broth and including marinated and fried ribs, bamboo shoots, quail eggs, faux shark fins, and various other ingredients, it creates a rich flavor and a savory broth that is aromatic and mouthwatering as soon as it is served.
