Fuchang Restaurant Introduction
On the old street of Pingxi, the simple and unpretentious "Fuchang Restaurant" has been in operation since 1957, known for its authentic and straightforward local snacks, making it a favorite gathering place for celebrations and banquets. The restaurant, formerly known as "Yonggelou," specializes in traditional Taiwanese banquet cuisine and was once a venue for feasts during the golden age of mining. The head chef is skilled at serving authentic Taiwanese flavors, and the dishes offered are as rich as those at a banquet; especially the "Taro and Three Delicacies," which is hard to find in ordinary restaurants. This dish is packed with a nostalgic and rich old-fashioned taste that is definitely worth a try. Additionally, Pingxi is famous for its production of "arrow bamboo shoots." If you visit in late autumn to early winter, around November, you must try the fresh and authentic "Pingxi Arrow Bamboo Shoots." Select soft and tender shoots, stir-fried quickly with fermented black beans and spicy bean paste, they are crunchy, refreshing, and perfect with rice—absolutely not to be missed! Another signature dish highly recommended by food lovers is "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall." Made with chicken broth as the base, it includes marinated and fried pork ribs, bamboo shoots, fried quail eggs, imitation shark fins, and a variety of other ingredients, creating a rich flavor and sweet broth that is aromatic and mouthwatering as soon as it is served.
