Fu Chang Restaurant

Taipei Foods

Located on Pingxi Old Street, the simple and unpretentious "Fuchang Restaurant" has been in operation since 1957, renowned for its authentic and rustic local snacks. It is a favorite gathering place for local events, celebrations, and banquets. Formerly known as “Yonggelou,” Fuchang Restaurant was a specialized banquet catering establishment during the gold mining era. The head chef is skilled at presenting authentic Taiwanese flavors, and the dishes offered are as rich as a banquet. Notably, the "Taro Three Fresh" is a dish that is rarely found in ordinary restaurants; upon tasting, one can feel a nostalgic and rich traditional flavor, making it truly worth a try. Additionally, Pingxi is famous for its abundant "Arrow Bamboo." If you visit around late autumn to early winter, in November, you must try the fresh and authentic "Pingxi Arrow Bamboo." When tender arrow bamboo is stir-fried with fermented soybeans and spicy bean paste, it results in a crisp and refreshing dish that pairs perfectly with rice and is absolutely not to be missed! One of the most common dishes at banquets, “Buddha Jumps Over the Wall,” is also highly recommended by food enthusiasts. It uses chicken broth as a base, incorporating marinated and fried pork ribs along with bamboo shoots, quail eggs, imitation shark fin, and a variety of other ingredients, creating a rich flavor and mellow soup. This dish is aromatic and mouthwatering as soon as it is served.
