Lingjiao Station Introduction
Located in the Pingxi District of New Taipei City, it is a railway station on the Pingxi Line operated by the Taiwan Railway Administration. Established during the Qianlong period of the Qing dynasty by Lin Guohua from Xinghua, it is named after its location at an altitude of over 700 meters on the southern side of Jiangziliaoshan. In this mountainous and watery region, there are certainly many fun places to visit, and the Lingjiao Waterfall is nearby the station, making it a great choice to take a rest at the station and enjoy the waterfall scenery from a distance. In the 8th year of the Taisho era (1919), the Taiyang Mining Company began construction of the railway from Sandiaoling to Jingtong (now Jingtong), known as the Pingxi Line, which was completed and opened for use in the 10th year of the Taisho era (1921). Initially, it served as a dedicated line for the Taiyang Mining Company for coal transportation, and it wasn't until October 1, 1929, that it was purchased by the Railway Department as a public line and began passenger services. On December 15, 1962, it was renamed Lingjiao Station. Initially classified as a third-class station, it was downgraded to a simple station in 1986, with the original wooden station building renovated into what is seen today. It was further downgraded to a flag stop in 1991 and was later managed by Ruifang Station in 2001. The bay-shaped platform design is quite beautiful, and the idol drama "Miss Rose" was filmed here. Additionally, the remnants of coal transport facilities next to the Lingjiao Station platform and the renovated former mining dormitory museum from the Japanese colonial period both have significant historical value.
