Lingjiao Station Introduction
Located in Pingxi District, New Taipei City, this is a railway station on the Pingxi Line of the Taiwan Railway Administration. Established during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty by Lin Guohua from Xinghua, it was named Lingjiao due to its location on the southern side of Jiangziliao Mountain, which stands over 700 meters above sea level. In this beautiful mountainous and watery area, one can’t miss the fun spots around, and the Lingjiao Waterfall is nearby. Taking a short break at the station to enjoy the distant views of the waterfall is a great choice. In the 8th year of the Taisho era (1919), the Taiwan-Yang Mining Co., Ltd. began constructing the railway from Sandiaoling to Jingtong (now Jingtong), named the Pingxi Line. It was completed and opened for use in the 10th year of the Taisho era (1921), initially serving as a private railway for coal transportation for the Taiwan-Yang Mining Co., Ltd. It wasn't until October 1st in the 4th year of the Showa era (1929) that it was purchased by the Department of Railways and became a public line with passenger services added. On December 15th of the 51st year of the Republic of China, it was renamed Lingjiao Station. At its inception, it was a third-class station, upgraded to a simple station from the 75th year of the Republic of China, and the original wooden station building was remodeled into the current structure. It was further downgraded to a call station in the 80th year and later managed by Ruifang Station starting from the 90th year. The bay-shaped platform is quite beautiful, and the idol drama "Miss Screw Must Marry" was filmed here. The relics of coal transportation facilities alongside the platform and the remodeled mining dormitory museum from the Japanese rule era also hold significant historical value.
