Lingjiao Station Introduction
Located in the Pingxi District of New Taipei City, it is a railway station on the Pingxi Line operated by the Taiwan Railways Administration. Established during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty by a person from Xinghua named Lin Guohua, it was named Lingjiao due to its location on the southern side of Mount Jiangziliao, which is over 700 meters above sea level. In this area with mountains and water, there are certainly many fun places to visit, and the Lingjiao Waterfall is located near the station. Taking a short break at the station and enjoying the waterfall view is a good choice. In the 8th year of the Taisho era (1919), the Taiyang Mining Co., Ltd. began constructing the railway from Sandiaoling to Jingtong (now Jingtong), named the Pingxi Line, which was completed and put into operation in the 10th year of the Taisho era (1921). Initially, it served as a private line for the Taiyang Mining Co., Ltd. solely for coal transportation, and it wasn’t until October 1, 1929 (the 4th year of the Showa era) that it was acquired by the Railway Department as a public line and began to operate passenger services. On December 15, 1962 (the 51st year of the Republic of China), the station was officially named Lingjiao Station, which was initially a third-class station, downgraded to a simple station in 1986, and its original wooden station building was renovated into the station building seen today. In 1991, it was further downgraded to a call station and later managed by Ruifang Station in 2001. The bay-shaped platform is quite beautiful, and the idol drama "Miss Screw Must Marry" was also filmed here. Additionally, the remnants of coal transport facilities beside the Lingjiao Station platform and the converted museum of the mining dormitory from the Japanese colonial period hold significant historical value.
