Lingjiao Station Introduction
Located in the Pingxi District of New Taipei City, it is a railway station on the Pingxi Line of the Taiwan Railway Administration. Established during the Qianlong period by Lin Guohua from Xinghua, it is named Lingjiao because it lies south of Mount Jiangziliao, which is over 700 meters above sea level. In this area rich in mountains and water, fun attractions are plentiful; Lingjiao Waterfall is nearby the station, making it a great choice to take a short rest at the station and enjoy the scenic view of the waterfall. In the 8th year of the Taisho era (1919), the Taiyang Mining Co., Ltd. began constructing the railway from Sandiaoling to Jingtong (now Jingtong), named the Pingxi Line, which was completed and opened for use in the 10th year of the Taisho era (1921). Initially, it was a private line for Taiyang Mining Co., Ltd. solely for coal transportation. It was not until October 1, 1929, during the Shōwa era, that it was acquired by the Ministry of Railways to become a public line, with passenger services added. On December 15, 1962, it was renamed Lingjiao Station. At its establishment, it was a third-class station; it was downgraded to a simple station in 1986, and the original wooden station building was remodeled into the station building seen today. It was further downgraded to a service station in 1991, and later came under the management of Ruifang Station in 2001. The bay-shaped platform is quite beautiful, and the idol drama "Miss Screw Must Get Married" was filmed here. Additionally, the remnants of the coal transportation facilities beside the Lingjiao Station platform and the remodeled museum of mining dormitories from the Japanese colonial era hold significant historical value.
