Jingtong Old Street Red Ruby Miner Canteen Introduction
"Hong Bao Miner’s Canteen" is located on Jing Tong Old Street in Pingxi District, New Taipei City, and was formerly the miners' welfare society of the Shidi Mine. The owner of "Hong Bao Miner’s Canteen" aims to recreate the mining atmosphere of the early Republic of China, decorated with oversized historical photographs of early miners at work, signs for tobacco and alcohol sales, and old movie posters, creating a strong retro vibe. Additionally, the canteen offers classic traditional dishes such as miner’s set meals, railway bento boxes, and noodle tea, evoking fond memories for many patrons! Since "Hong Bao Miner’s Canteen" is adjacent to Jing Tong Station, diners can enjoy views of the historic railway that has been in use since the early Republic of China. If the mood strikes, you can also step onto the railway and climb the steps to the remnants of the Shidi Coal Mine for a nostalgic journey. The picturesque Jing Tong Railway, Shidi Mine Village, and Pingxi Mountain City all begin at "Hong Bao Miner’s Canteen."
