"Hong Bao Mining Workers' Canteen" is located on Jingtong Old Street in Pingxi District, New Taipei City, and was formerly a welfare society for miners at the Shidi Mine. The owner of "Hong Bao Mining Workers' Canteen" aims to recreate the mining atmosphere of the early Republic of China, featuring large historical photographs of early miners at work, signs for tobacco and alcohol sales, and old movie posters, creating a strong retro vibe. Additionally, the canteen offers classic dishes such as miner's meal sets, railway bento, and noodle tea, evoking fond memories for many! Moreover, "Hong Bao Mining Workers' Canteen" is adjacent to Jingtong Station, and when dining inside, you can look out and see the old railway that has been in use since the early Republic of China. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can step onto the tracks and take the stairs up to the remnants of the Shidi Coal Mine for a nostalgic experience.
