Jingtong Old Street Red Ruby Miner's Restaurant Introduction
"Red Gem Miner's Canteen" is located on Jing Tong Old Street in Pingxi District, New Taipei City, and was formerly the miners' welfare association of the Shidi Mine. The owner of "Red Gem Miner's Canteen" aims to recreate the mining scene from the early Republic of China era, featuring large historical photographs of early miners at work, signage for tobacco and alcohol sales, and old movie posters to create a strong retro atmosphere. Additionally, it offers classic traditional dishes like miner's set meals, railway bento, and noodle tea that evoke fond memories for many. As "Red Gem Miner's Canteen" is adjacent to Jing Tong Station, diners can gaze outside to see the old railway that has been in use since the early Republic of China. If you're feeling adventurous, you can also step onto the railway and take the steps up to the Shidi Mine ruins for a nostalgic experience. The journey through the beloved Jing Tong railway, Shidi Mining Village, and Pingxi Mountain Town begins at "Red Gem Miner's Canteen."
