Jingtong Old Street Red Jewel Mine Worker Canteen Introduction
"Red Gem Miner’s Canteen" is located on Jingtong Old Street in Pingxi District, New Taipei City, and was formerly the miners' welfare association of the Shidi Mine. The owner of "Red Gem Miner’s Canteen" aims to recreate the mining atmosphere of the early Republic of China, featuring large historical photos of early mining activities, signs of tobacco and alcohol sales, and vintage movie posters to create a strong retro ambiance. Additionally, classic dishes such as miner’s set meals, railway bento, and noodle tea are offered, evoking many nostalgic memories! Furthermore, "Red Gem Miner’s Canteen" is adjacent to Jingtong Station, and diners can enjoy a view of the old railway that has been in use since the early Republic of China. If you feel adventurous, you can also step onto the tracks and take a walk to the remnants of the Shidi Coal Mine for a nostalgic experience. The enchanting Jingtong Railway, Shidi Mine Village, and Pingxi Mountain Town all begin at "Red Gem Miner’s Canteen."
