UCC Coffee Introduction
The nostalgic aroma of coffee took shape through a series of fortunate events, leading to the establishment of Shangdao Coffee in 1979. At Shangdao Coffee, you can listen to the history of the evolution of beverages in Taiwan and savor freshly roasted single-origin coffees while appreciating the passage of time. It is a classic in Chiayi, as well as a constantly evolving experience. Owner Wu Yizheng reflects on his entry into the coffee roasting business over 30 years ago, at a time when very few people understood the art of coffee. Driven by his passion and vision, he persevered even during the era when bubble tea was all the rage. However, due to his accumulated expertise in coffee and beverage raw materials, he seized the opportunity to innovate and transform, shaping today's coffee beverage and dining department stores. Many stories of Chiayi residents have unfolded here, and through a cup of coffee, countless beautiful memories of Chiayi have been cherished. After over 30 years of experience, he is considered a master roaster in Chiayi, insisting that the coffee beans on the shelves are always freshly roasted within seven days. The choice of raw materials and brewing tools is meticulously handled, and what is sold here is not just coffee, but a space for sharing and tasting coffee—a tall, spacious, and bright venue where everyone can engage in heartfelt conversations over drinks. In recent years, Shangdao Coffee has been at the forefront of the local coffee culture, offering various educational courses aimed at helping local farmers in Chiayi invest in their own roasting techniques, brand packaging, and marketing. Together with like-minded small farmers, they are expanding the coffee culture industry in Chiayi. Regular aesthetic coffee sharing sessions are held, where the delicate process of preparing coffee with exquisite brewing tools is treated as a form of art, combining visual, olfactory, and gustatory enjoyment, as well as literary appreciation. What flows down your throat and lingers in your mouth is a smooth and rich aroma that represents the memories of many Chiayi residents. Recommended dishes: Pour-over coffee, siphon coffee.
