Riqing Savory Pie

Chiayi Foods

In November 2016, two girls who studied together in the Fine Arts Department returned to Chiayi City from their respective work cities and opened a savory pie shop called "Riqing" in a small alley in the city. The name "Riqing" comes from the two girls' love of mountain climbing, meaning to pray that every day spent in the mountains is a sunny day. With a background in fine arts, the two girls have unique design principles for all the decor in the shop. Not wanting to conform to any standard style, they personally painted the walls, arranged a variety of small goods and cute tableware on the shelves, and decorated the place with their cherished small models, ensuring that every inconspicuous corner of the shop reflects their care and creativity. The aesthetic of Riqing’s savory pies cannot be classified or replicated, as it stems from the imaginative and unrestrained creativity of the two girls. Another common passion of the two is their love for savory pies and scones. After tasting savory pies and scones from various places both domestically and internationally, they realized that the best flavors come from the care and purity put into home-cooked meals by mothers for their families. Thus, they rolled up their sleeves and dove into the world of flour and butter, aiming to provide all visiting friends with delicious, reassuring, and healthy food—just like serving family. Even though they once contemplated giving up because of the complexities involved in making savory pies, the satisfaction they see on customers' faces enjoying the food, the relaxed and lazy atmosphere in the shop, and the ability to savor natural and healthy dishes, all align with Riqing’s original intention. In every day ahead in Chiayi City, regardless of whether it is sunny or rainy, they will continue to provide dishes that are warm and delicious.
