Chiayi Foods

At nearly 35 years old, Chen Wen-hsing, who works at a food company, walked into a food forest filled with challenges, holding onto his entrepreneurial dream. With no prior baking experience, he began by asking seniors and related teachers for advice. After numerous failures and setbacks, he spent nearly five years finally carving out a niche for himself in this forest. To highlight the uniqueness of his pancakes, Chen started developing "tourism market" pancakes, changing the traditional pancake shapes and flavors while constantly brainstorming creative ideas. Once the weekend arrived, he would fill his stall with his products and sell them directly at tourist attractions. Over time, he gradually gained recognition, leading to other vendors purchasing his products to sell, and he realized that there was more space for his creative pancakes. Thus, he continued to unleash his imagination. From the "Panda Pancake," which aligned with the trend of the Taipei Zoo's Yuanzi, to the "Duck Pancake," inspired by the popularity of the giant rubber duck, he is now able to offer customized pancakes for manufacturers. His delicate molds can precisely imprint QR codes, allowing customers to scan the pancake with their phones and instantly connect to designated web pages or Facebook. Not only does he provide cute, customized pancakes, but Chen also specially designed peach-shaped pancakes unique to Chiayi City. The inspiration came from Chiayi City being shape like a peach, earning it the nickname "Peach City." This "Zhuliao Peach Pastry" even received the honor of being one of the top ten souvenirs in Chiayi City. The following year, he continued to innovate, imprinting the scenery of Chiayi City onto pancakes, letting tourists literally taste the beauty of Chiayi City. Over a decade of pancake endeavors, Chen Wen-hsing's journey in the food forest was once filled with mud and peril. He knows that a slight neglect in this field could lead to being overlooked, so he constantly reminds himself to innovate and improve. On his future path, he will continue to uphold the original intention of entrepreneurship, giving his all and leaving no room for error with each endeavor.
