At nearly 35 years old, Chen Wen-hsing, who works at a food company, harbors dreams of starting his own business and steps into a challenging food forest. With no prior baking experience, he began by consulting seniors and relevant teachers. After multiple failures and setbacks, it took him nearly five years to finally carve out his space in the forest. To highlight the uniqueness and distinctiveness of his pancakes, Chen started developing pancakes for the "tourism market," altering traditional shapes and flavors and constantly brainstorming various creative ideas for pancakes. Once the weekend arrived, he would load his products onto a cart and head directly to tourist attractions to sell. Over time, he gradually gained recognition, and other vendors began buying his products to sell. He soon realized there was even more potential for his creative pancakes, so he continued to unleash his boundless imagination. From the "Panda Pancake," inspired by the trend of the Taipei Zoo's mascot Yuanzi, to the "Duck Pancake," influenced by the popularity of the giant rubber duck, he now offers custom pancakes for clients, with intricate molds that can precisely imprint QR codes. Customers can scan the pancake with their phones, leading them directly to a designated webpage or Facebook page. Not only providing cute and customizable pancakes, Chen also designed a peach-shaped pancake exclusive to Chiayi City, inspired by Chiayi's nickname "Peach City" due to its peach-like shape. This "Zhuliao Peach Pancake" was even honored as one of Chiayi City's Top Ten Souvenirs. The following year, he continued to innovate, imprinting scenic views of Chiayi City onto pancakes, allowing tourists to taste the beauty of Chiayi City in every bite. Over the past ten years on this pancake journey, Chen Wen-hsing has faced muddy and treacherous paths in the food forest. He understands that a moment of negligence in this field could lead to being overlooked. Therefore, he remains vigilant in innovating and refining his work. Moving forward, he will continue to uphold his entrepreneurial spirit, ensuring each endeavor is executed with full effort and precision.
