At nearly 35 years old and working at a food company, Chen Wen-Hsing embraces his dream of entrepreneurship, stepping into a perilous forest of food industry challenges. With no prior baking experience, he began by consulting seniors and relevant teachers. After numerous failures and setbacks over nearly five years, he finally found his place in this forest. To highlight the uniqueness and distinctiveness of his pancakes, Chen began developing pancakes for the "tourist market," altering the traditional shapes and flavors while constantly brainstorming creative pancake ideas. Every weekend, he filled his food cart with products and went directly to tourist attractions to sell them. Over time, his reputation grew, and other vendors started purchasing his products to sell. He gradually realized that there was more room for his creative pancakes to flourish, prompting him to continue expressing his imaginative ideas. From the "Panda Pancake" inspired by the popularity of the round panda at the Taipei Zoo to the "Little Duck Pancake" riding the wave of the yellow duck craze, he now offers customized pancakes for businesses. The delicate molds can precisely imprint QR codes, which, when scanned with a phone, link directly to designated web pages or Facebook. Not only does he offer cute, personalized pancakes, but Chen also specially designed a peach-shaped pancake unique to Chiayi City, inspired by its nickname "Peach City" due to the city’s resemblance to a peach. This "Zhulu Peach Cake" won the honor of being one of Chiayi City's top ten souvenirs. The following year, he continued to innovate by imprinting scenery from Chiayi City onto his pancakes, allowing tourists to savor the beauty of Chiayi City in a bite. After a decade-long journey in the pancake business, Chen Wen-Hsing's path in the food forest was fraught with mud and danger. He understands that any carelessness in this industry could lead to obscurity, so he remains vigilant, always innovating and improving. As he moves forward, he stays true to his entrepreneurial spirit, ensuring that each venture is executed with full effort and perfection.
