Doujiou Bar Introduction

The old house that has been serving wine for nearly 70 years was once a rattan furniture store, according to the landlord. Located at the intersection of Chengren Street and Lanqing Street, this area used to gather suit shops, furniture stores, and comforter shops. As these industries gradually faded away with time, they were almost forgotten by the locals. However, with the arrival of new dining establishments, the area has been revitalized and has become a new focal point in Chiayi City. Named "Doujiu," which is a homophone in Taiwanese for "pour wine," the bartender often refers to himself as "Bate Te" on the fan page, posting in a warm and humorous style. Despite being an old house bar, it embraces a joyful atmosphere and often hosts events for friends, colleagues, and students. Bate Te himself mentions that while it’s easy for everyone to get high during a private party, it’s quite cute to see drinkers occasionally lose control due to being so relaxed! The most popular cocktail is "Amber," concocted with vodka as the base, mixed with Alishan oolong tea, Wenshan Pouchong tea, honey, and sparkling water—creating a "tea wine" that showcases local Chiayi flavors with a lower alcohol content, making it easy for most people to enjoy. When you visit Doujiu for a drink, be sure to order the signature side dishes: truffle fries and chicken wings. Photo source: Chiayi City Government Tourism News Office | Photographer: Mag.
