Chihcaopu - Home of the Chef Introduction
"Chih Tsao Pu Culinary Research Studio" is located in a pebble-washed building along Taiwan's Provincial Highway 11. If you're not paying attention, you might accidentally miss it while admiring the beautiful blue sea view on the right. The restaurant is run by a young couple who started this hidden French-style eatery in 2014. With a maximum of 20 seats, the interior has a simple and refreshing style, and the menu changes every season. Due to the owner’s background as a French cuisine chef, the couple has utilized their skills upon returning to their hometown, incorporating local seasonal ingredients from Changbin to develop highly creative seasonal dishes. This blend of "food," local life, and art has made Chih Tsao Pu a unique dining experience. Now in its seventh year since its establishment in 2014, the culinary concepts have evolved through inspirations from Changbin's environment, Huangdi Neijing (The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine), love poems, paintings, and moments of solitude, resulting in 168 different dishes created so far. In 2021, they shifted their creative direction to express the aromatic characteristics of wine grapes, with each season welcoming the aromas of four varieties: White Zinfandel, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, and Grenache.
