Nanzhukou Village Introduction
The Amis people of the South Zhu Lake Tribe originally lived at Mt. Maogong upstream in Fengbin. They migrated to Zhuhu Village in search of flat and fertile land suitable for farming, and eventually relocated to the present-day South Zhu Lake due to diseases and other factors. The South Zhu Lake Tribe is the starting point of the Antong Cross-Mountain Ancient Trail, the first ancient path crossing the Huadong Coastal Mountain Range, which leads west to Yuli Township in Hualien County. In the South Zhu Lake Tribe, there are many buildings rich in indigenous flavor. They serve as spots for tourists to admire and rest, and during tribal festivals, they transform into gathering places. For example, the "thatched hut," a pavilion for resting, has a barbecue area inside where tribespeople can grill meat brought back from hunting and share it with the community; the wood rack resembling a straw hat is used for stacking firewood, and there are two stoves nearby for cooking with firewood. The cooking equipment known as "Kakakong" is the perfect choice for grilling flying fish and gatherings.
