Nan Zhu Hu Tribal Village Introduction
The Amis people of the South Bamboo Lake tribe originally lived in the upper reaches of Fengbin's Cat Mountain. Seeking a flat and fertile place suitable for agriculture, they migrated to Zhuhu Village and later moved to their current location in South Bamboo Lake due to diseases and various other factors. The South Bamboo Lake tribe is the starting point of the Antong Ridge Ancient Trail, the first ancient trail that crosses the Huadong Coastal Mountain Range, leading west to Yuli Township in Hualien County. The South Bamboo Lake tribe features many buildings rich in indigenous flavor, which not only serve as resting spots for visitors but also transform into gathering places during the tribe's festive periods. For instance, the thatched-roof pavilion provides a resting area and includes a barbecue area where tribe members can roast meat caught during hunting and share it with their fellow tribesmen. There is also a wooden rack shaped like a straw hat used for stacking firewood, alongside two cooking stoves for firewood preparation. Additionally, the "Kakakong" fire-roasting equipment is especially favored for grilling flying fish and holding gatherings.
