Nan Zhu Hu Village Introduction
The Amis people of the Nanzhuhudu Tribe originally lived in the upper reaches of Cat Mountain in Fengbin. Seeking a flat and fertile area suitable for farming, they migrated to Zhuhu Village and eventually moved to the current location of Nanzhuhudu due to diseases and various other factors. The Nanzhuhudu Tribe is the starting point of the Antong Crossing Ancient Trail, the first ancient path that crosses the Coastal Mountain Range of Hualien and Taitung. From here, one can head west to Yuli Township in Hualien County. The Nanzhuhudu Tribe features many buildings rich in indigenous flavor, which not only serve as spots for tourists to enjoy and rest but also transform into gathering places during tribal festivals. For instance, the pavilion called "thatched house" is equipped with a barbecue area where tribe members can grill meat and share with others after returning from hunts. There is a wooden rack for stacking firewood, resembling a straw hat, along with two stoves for cooking with firewood. The fire roasting equipment known as "kakakong" is particularly favored for grilling flying fish and is a go-to choice for gatherings.
