Zhenbei Village Introduction
It is said that the Zhenbing Tribe was originally established upstream of the Maja River, facing the Shikeng Tribe (now known as Changguang) across the river. The Japanese referred to both tribes collectively as Maja River Tribe, but in fact, they are two independent small tribes. The ancestors of the villagers migrated from Jingpu and Baliwan in Fengbin Township. About a hundred years ago, the Amis people from the Fengbin area moved south and established this tribe; however, today, the original Amis from Fengbin are no longer the main population. Instead, the majority comes from the Taibalang tribe of the Xiu-Luan Amis, with some also being Peinan Amis. The Zhenbing Tribe is primarily composed of the Amis people, with only two households being Han Chinese. For a long time, the tribe's economic activities have been mainly based on agriculture and fishing. The traditional structure of the tribe is a society divided by age groups, with the youth group serving as the leadership tier. The Zhenbing Tribe is located on a terrace south of Sanjian Village, bordered to the west by the Central Mountain Range and facing the Pacific Ocean, making it a beautiful place surrounded by mountains and water. The Zhenbing River behind the tribe is one of the rare beautiful rivers on the east coast; it flows from the boundaries of the tribe's rice fields and mountainous areas, following the irrigation channels upstream into the pristine and beautiful Zhenbing River Gorge, which features numerous cascading waterfalls with clear and cool waters. In front of the tribe, there is a rare long and complete beach on the east coast, locally known as Lover's Beach, making it an excellent spot for watching the sunrise and enjoying the full moon. On the fifteenth day of the lunar month, practitioners can witness the sunrise in the morning and see a large, round moon rising from the sea in the evening, with moonlight casting a gentle glow on the ocean, swaying with the waves like silk, making it difficult to resist being enchanted by this beautiful scenery.
