Zhengbang Village Introduction
According to legend, the Zhenbang Tribe was originally established upstream of the Majiang River, opposite the Shikeng Tribe (now known as Changguang), which the Japanese referred to as the Majiang River Tribe. However, these are two independent small tribes. The ancestors of the villagers migrated from Jingpu and Baliwan in Fengbin Township about a century ago when the Amis from the Fengbin area migrated south to establish this tribe. Today, the original Amis from Fengbin are no longer the main population; instead, the majority are from the Taibalang Tribe of the Xiu-luan Amis, with some also being from the Beinan Amis. The Zhenbang Tribe is predominantly composed of the Amis, with only two households being Han Chinese. For a long time, the tribe's economic activities have primarily revolved around agriculture and fishing. The traditional structure of the tribe is based on age hierarchies, with the youth group being the leadership class. The Zhenbang Tribe is located on a plateau south of Sanjian Village, bordered by the Eastern Coast Mountains to the west and facing the Pacific Ocean to the east, making it a picturesque location by the mountains and waters. The Zhenbang River, located behind the tribe, is one of the few beautiful rivers on the Eastern Coast. It originates from the boundary between the tribe’s rice paddies and the mountainous area, flowing through the valley along the water channel, quickly leading into the pristine and beautiful Zhenbang River Gorge, which boasts many consecutive waterfalls with clear and cool water. In front of the tribe, there is a rare, long, and complete sandy beach on the Eastern Coast, locally known as Lover's Beach. This spot is an excellent location for watching the sunrise and enjoying the bright moon. On the full moon day of the lunar calendar, one can enjoy the sunrise in the morning and see the large round moon rising slowly from the sea level in the evening. The moonlight shimmers on the ocean surface, swaying gently with the waves like fine silk, making it irresistible to be enchanted by this beautiful scenery.
