Qinyuanchun Introduction

Chrysanthemum Garden, established in 1949 when the Nationalist government relocated to Taiwan, brings the authentic culinary heritage of the Chiang family from Wuxi, specializing in Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisine as well as Shanghai cuisine. "Chrysanthemum Garden" was named by Mr. Wu Zhi-hui, a member of the Academia Sinica at the time, who also personally inscribed the name. The restaurant aims to create a dining experience that evokes the same comfort and joy as that experienced by literary figures during their gatherings, celebrating the delight of sharing exquisite dishes. The establishment is located on Taiwan Boulevard in the central district of Taichung City and has never moved in its over 70 years of operation. It has served as a venue for government and business elites as well as a place that brings families together for daily meals, preserving the culinary memories of the past century while continuing to create unique and wonderful memories for every family that dines there. Today, it is solely managed by Mr. Chiang Shao-yen, the eldest son of the Chiang family, with the fourth generation—Chiang Long and Kuo Wen-chang—learning to manage and perpetuate the business. The restaurant uses a base of old dough and insists on handmade silver thread rolls and various types of steamed dumplings and buns every day. Signature dishes follow the traditional "thick oil red sauce" style of Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisine, such as Nanjing-style eel paste, river shrimp, Wuxi pork ribs, and more, which are beloved by gourmets and are a must-visit for many travelers from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and local visitors in Taichung.
