Chen Yun Baoquan Freedom Road Flagship Store, a century-old establishment, continues to innovate. Mr. Chen Yun, the first generation, began selling pastries on Sanjiao Street in the current urban area of Fengyuan during the Japanese colonial period. In 1943, Mr. Chen Jinquan, the second generation, gained immense popularity for the handmade Daifuku mochi he created in Japan due to its craftsmanship and authentic flavors. He established "Baoquan Confectionery" in Tokyo, marking the origin of Baoquan. In 1975, the Baoquan flagship store was launched on Zhongzheng Road in Fengyuan's pastry street, managed by the third generation, Mr. Chen Zengxiong, who combined traditional Taiwanese and Japanese baking methods. He improved traditional mooncakes and successfully developed new products such as mini mooncakes and salted egg yolk pastry, which quickly gained recognition. The fourth generation, Mr. Chen Kunhong, further created exclusive items like "Lu Zhi Guo" and "Ri Yue Shao," reaching new heights in pastry-making skills. Over the years, the store has received numerous gold medals for quality food evaluations, and awards for its distinctiveness in Taichung. In 2013, the original name of Baoquan was modified to "Chen Yun Baoquan," incorporating the name of the first generation, to express a sense of gratitude for heritage and the transmission of skills and culture across generations.
