Siwei Village Sunset Trail Introduction
"Si Wei," formerly known as "Xi Wei," got its name from the location of the village at the western tip of Nangan Island, which phonetically resembles "Xi Wei." It was only after the troops of the Nationalist Army stationed here that it was renamed "Si Wei." Due to population outflow, Si Wei Village has become desolate, with only 3 or 4 households remaining. The village is particularly quiet on weekdays, possessing an unmistakable sense of loneliness and desolation. After the Nationalist Army retreated to Matsu, residents moved away, leading to the village's continued abandonment. Once the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration began operations in Matsu, they started to build the "Si Wei Sunset Trail," also known as the "Qiu Gui Mountain Trail," along the already expanded road. This trail not only provides a place for local residents to walk but has also become one of the best spots for tourists to view the sunset and for photography enthusiasts to capture stunning shots.
