Siwei Village Sunset Trail Introduction

Siwei, formerly known as Xiyou, derives its name from its location at the westernmost tip of Nangan Island, with the name being a homophone of "Xiyou." It was only after the military began to station there that it was renamed "Siwei." Due to population decline, Siwei Village has aged and dwindled, now only having three or four households. It is particularly quiet and desolate on regular days, emanating an unmistakable sense of coldness and solitude. After the military retreated to Matsu, residents gradually moved away, and the settlement has since fallen into abandonment. After the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration began operations in Matsu, they started constructing the Siwei "Sunset Trail," also known as the "Qiu Gui Mountain Trail," alongside the already expanded road, providing a place for local residents to walk while also becoming one of the best spots for visitors to watch the sunset and for photographers to capture stunning shots.
