Siwei Village Sunrise Trail Introduction
Sihwei, originally known as Xiyu, derives its name from its location at the western tip of Nangan Island, phonetically similar to Xiyu. It was only after the military stationed itself that the name was changed to Sihwei. Due to population outflow, Sihwei has grown desolate, with only a few households remaining, creating an exceptionally quiet and solemn atmosphere. After the military retreated to Matsu, residents moved away, leading to the settlement's abandonment. Once the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration began its operations, they started constructing the Sihwei Sunset Trail, also known as the Qiugui Mountain Trail, alongside the previously expanded road, providing a place for locals to walk and becoming one of the best spots for tourists to view the sunset and for photographers to capture stunning shots.
