Siwei Villagers' Sun Trail Introduction

"Sihwei," formerly known as "Hsiehwei," derives its name from the fact that the village is located at the western edge of Nangan Island. The name was phonetically adapted from "Hsiehwei." It was only after the Nationalist Army stationed here that it was renamed "Sihwei." Due to population outflow, Sihwei Village has become increasingly desolate, with only 3 to 4 households remaining. On weekdays, the village is especially quiet, exuding an unmistakable sense of solitude and melancholy. After the Nationalist Army retreated to Matsu, residents moved away, leading to the abandonment of the settlement. The Matsu National Scenic Area Administration began to establish a presence in Matsu, and based on the fact that visitors often come here to enjoy the sunset, they started constructing the "Sihwei Sunset Trail," also known as the "Qiu-Guishan Trail," along the already expanded road. This provides a place for local residents to walk and has now become one of the best spots for tourists to watch the sunset and for photography enthusiasts to capture stunning shots.
