Siwei Village Sun Trail Introduction

"Siwei," formerly known as "Xiye," derives its name from its location at the western tip of Nangan Island, with the name being a homophone for Xiye. It wasn't until the arrival of the Nationalist Army that it was renamed "Siwei." Due to population outflow, Siwei village has aged and dwindled, with only about 3 to 4 households remaining today. The village is particularly quiet and desolate on weekdays, exuding a sense of loneliness and sorrowful decay. After the Nationalist Army retreated to Matsu, residents further migrated to other places, leaving the settlement abandoned until now. After the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration began its involvement in Matsu, a "Sunset Trail" was constructed next to the already expanded road, as visitors often come here to enjoy the sunset. Also known as the "Qiuguishan Trail," it not only serves local residents for walking but has also become one of the best spots for tourists to watch the sunset and for photography enthusiasts to capture great shots.
