Autumn Osmanthus Pavilion Introduction
Nestled between mountains and the sea, the Qiu Gui Reservoir offers a picturesque view. Located on the eastern side of Qiu Gui Mountain, it was built in a valley and serves as one of the important water supply stations in the western part of the island. Near the reservoir, there are two pavilions: one stands against the mountain, and the other is built by the sea, both providing stunning views of the reservoir, known as "Qiu Gui Pavilion." The pavilion faces Fu'ao Harbor across the sea, allowing visitors to appreciate the beauty of the bay. As summer arrives, the gentle sea breeze makes it a perfect spot for tourists to enjoy the scenery and take a rest. Following the tractor path beside the reservoir into the mountains, a journey through winding trails leads to the paradise at the western tip of Nangan Island – Furen Village. Furen Village – A Secluded Paradise After passing by Qiu Gui Reservoir and arriving at Matsu's "Furen Village," one can walk along the winding paths within the village, experiencing its simplicity and lush greenery. A few households are hidden amidst the vibrant greenery, and from a height, the sea is an expanse of deep blue. The name is said to have originated from early local men who made a living by fishing, leaving most of the villagers – women and children – behind. During one encounter with pirates who landed to plunder, the women bravely fought off the pirates, thus earning the village its name.
