Nangan Traditional Settlement - Siwei Coastal Scenery Continuing north from Matsu Village to the westernmost tip of Nangan Island, known as "Xiwei," lies Siwei Village, one of the few well-preserved settlements in Nangan. This area was once the office of Lin Yi-he, a legendary figure in Matsu. At that time, troops were stationed here, and they built a power plant and a rice mill in the village, fostering the prosperity of Siwei Village. However, it gradually declined, and today only a few families reside there, with many areas not yet fully restored, preserving more of their original character. The village has a simple appearance, nestling against Qiugui Mountain and facing the coastline, with charming views of fishing sails dotting the sea. The sunset in the evening is particularly breathtaking, earning the name "Xiwei Sunset." The former Matsu Fisheries Experimental Station located at Furong Bay in Siwei Village was originally the base for the development of aquaculture in Matsu, renowned for its green mussels. Through the cultivation methods developed by the station and the unique natural conditions, green mussels have become an essential delicacy on Matsu's dining tables, and they are a must-try for visitors.
