Victory Park Introduction
Shengtian Park, nestled between Magang and Jiansha Village, is located on the west-facing slope of Yuntai Mountain, adjacent to the Chushui Ao Reservoir. Covering an area of over ten hectares, it is a representative coastal park in the Matsu region, designed along a wartime road laid out by the sea. Next to Chushui Ao Reservoir stands the Tang-style pavilion, Shengtian Pavilion, built by the stationed troops in 1990, primarily inspired by the architectural style of the Taipei Waishuangxi Zhishanyuan. The landscaping mimics a Song dynasty garden style, featuring a wooden frame and gray ceramic tiles, seamlessly integrating with the mountain and sea scenery to showcase an ancient and elegant beauty. Due to insect damage, the wooden structure began to sag, and in 2004, the Matsu management restored it to its original appearance, giving it new life. Set against the lush greenery, it resembles a Jiangnan garden with refined charm. From the bridge, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the mountains and sea, and a path leads down to the coast. Within Shengtian Park, there is a forest of Taiwan beech trees, nurturing various native Matsu plant species among its thickets. The winding corridors of the ancient pavilion, with its soaring roof, are adorned with the red leaves of the sugar maple at the end of winter and the beginning of spring, beautifying the entire forest. Surrounded by towering ancient pines, it offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle, and ascending the stone steps provides a sense of tranquil beauty. As night falls, visitors can count the stars overhead and listen to the sound of waves crashing, enveloped in poetic charm.
