Wulai Scenic Area Introduction
Wulai Creek belongs to the Xincheng Creek watershed, where the river enters the plains, showcasing a beautiful landscape of mountains and waters. Formerly known as "Wulai Forest Springs," it is one of the scenic spots in the "Eight Views of New Lanyang." The sloped lands on both sides of Wulai Creek have a climate suitable for tea cultivation, and Wulai tea is known for its fragrant and sweet flavor, gaining fame far and wide. The area is rich in forests, and one can see bitter flowers, creek fish, and hairy crabs leisurely swimming in the babbling waters. The saying "Wulai Giant Drum and A-Jian Cheng Water" describes the melodious sounds produced by the rushing waters of Wulai Creek hitting the rocks, while the clear waters downstream in A-Jian Cheng, along with the fresh air, nurture many pure and beautiful girls. The scenic area covers 400 hectares, with 70 hectares planned for camping, divided into two major camping zones, accommodating up to 1,000 campers. The facilities are quite comprehensive, including cooking pavilions, campfire areas, rain assembly points, and male and female bathing facilities, among others. Coupled with its unique natural scenery, the park has become a diverse leisure and recreation site for camping, water play, creek tracing, hiking, outdoor education, and tea tasting. Since 2001, between March and May each year, a Green Expo is held, conveying concepts of sustainability, natural ecology, energy, biotechnology, and environmental protection in an engaging manner.
