Wulai District Scenic Area Introduction
Wulai River belongs to the Hsi-Chih River watershed and enters the plains in this area, showcasing a beautiful blend of mountains and rivers. It was formerly known as "Wulai Linquan" and is a famous site within the "New Lanyang Eight Scenic Spots." The slope on both sides of Wulai River is suitable for tea cultivation, and Wulai tea is known for its fragrant sweetness, enjoying a far-reaching reputation. The region is lush with trees, and in the flowing waters of the stream, one can see bitter flowers, creek tadpoles, and hairy crabs leisurely swimming. The saying "Wulai Big Stone Drum, A-Jian City Water Chak-Mao" describes the sound of the water hitting the stones at Wulai River, while the clear waters and fresh air of the downstream A-Jian City nurture many pure and beautiful girls. The scenic area spans 400 hectares, with 70 hectares planned for camping, divided into two large camping areas that can accommodate 1,000 campers. The relevant facilities are comprehensive, including cooking pavilions, campfire sites, rain gathering places, and male and female bathing facilities. Coupled with its unique natural landscape, the park has become an excellent recreational site for camping, cooking, water play, stream tracing, mountain climbing, outdoor education, and tea tasting. Since 2001, a Green Expo has been held annually from March to May, conveying green concepts, natural ecology, energy, biotechnology, and environmental protection in an entertaining way.
