Chaoyang National Trail Introduction
Chaoyang National Trail is located on the Guishan Hill south of the Chaoyang community in Nanao Village. The trail has three entrances and a total length of approximately 2.2 kilometers. Along the way, there are four viewing platforms where visitors can take a break and enjoy beautiful sights such as the Suhua coastline, Wushi Nose gorge, Fairy Lake, Mandarin Duck Mountain, and the mysterious beach. The area around Chaoyang National Trail is rich in diverse native plants, birds, and amphibians. Visitors can often spot the Formosan rock macaque perched on treetops or encounter unexpected visitors among the grass. It’s a great place for hiking and relaxation while learning about flora and fauna along the trail. Additionally, there are plant identification signs next to the trail, listing twelve plants named after the Chinese Zodiac based on their names or homophones. Walking under the shade of trees, the trail gradually becomes flatter until it reaches the highest point at Guishan. From the top of Guishan, one can gaze at the vast Pacific Ocean and the fjord, appreciate the beauty of Nanao Fishing Port, and watch the sun rise from the sea, making it a fantastic place with different scenic views in every season.
