Baimi Wooden Clog Village Introduction
Baimi Community, formerly known as "Baimi Weng," was the starting point of the Suhua Highway during the Qing Dynasty, which opened up the Qilai Road. During the Japanese occupation, it developed a mining industry. Due to the abundant production of certain trees that serve as excellent material for making wooden clogs, the community established a wooden clog industry, becoming an important supplier. Despite experiencing a decline over the past two to three decades, the community harnessed creativity and imagination to give new life to wooden clogs, revitalizing the clog industry. With the concept of "Baimi heart, clog affection," Baimi Wooden Clog Village has gradually become a well-known tourist attraction. Through re-enactment, the community has reconnected and gathered, recalling memories of the past with the local saying, "Baimi Weng, crafting clogs; gathering materials, capturing from the mountains." In 1998, the Wooden Clog Museum was established, allowing visitors to learn about the clog industry and Baimi Community through guided tours and clog experiences.
